The Worlds Longest Zipline – K3

The Worlds Longest Zipline – K3

One of the world’s most ambitious zipline projects to date will be set in the picturesque Overberg mountains on the outskirts of Caledon. Situated next to the N2 and an hour’s drive from Cape Town, the zipline named K3 will be earmarked as the world’s longest zipline. Extreme thrill-seekers will be faced with a zipline exceeding more than 3 km in length and an estimated 500 meters from the ground at its highest point, as part of phase one. The experience will enhance the Overberg’s growing tourism footprint with this new world-class star attraction.

Installation of the K3 will commence during tourism month (September) and should be operational later in 2023. The installation and site has been identified for a number of reasons and once phase 1 of the project has been opened and successful, the development team will start with its planning for a zipline of a record-breaking 5km in length on the same property.

The Worlds Longest Zipline – K3 will be a joint venture between SA Forest Adventures and Mossel Bay Zipline. We believe that the zipline will be more than just a top attraction, and a phenomenal amount of planning has gone into the project since conceptual inception and approval in 2018. We are spear -heading marketing the country as a premiere adventure destination, with another project of international standards within our brand. We believe firmly in our country’s ability to be a leader in the adventure industry, which is why we invest substantially in these projects,” said MD Clinton Lerm, “We still firmly believe in the capacity of South Africa as a top tourism destination and a world player with other adventure destinations such as New Zealand and Canada.”

Welcoming the launch of K3, Western Cape Minister of Finance and Economic Opportunities, David Maynier, said: “We are excited about the launch of the K3 which will be yet another world-class and unique tourism experience in the Western Cape, attracting both domestic and international visitors to the beautiful Overberg region. We are grateful to our tourism businesses, such as SA Forest Adventures who have shown great resilience during the Covid-19 pandemic, developing innovative new tourism products that will go a long way to supporting economic recovery in the Western Cape.”

K3 will bring much-needed financial investment into Caledon and the Overberg.  As with all our other adventure projects, we intend to provide training and employment opportunities to the local communities.
